Quilted book bag

Woo Hoo! I am celebrating. It is finished. A strip pieced and quilted book bag in Disney inspired selection of fabrics. I found inspiration from this picture on pinterest. If you double click on a photo in pinterest it should take you right back to the original location on the web, it does in this case. The original post gives some info about the design details. I changed it up a bit, but it was an awesome starting point. I am still considering making the adorable flowers though. Or I might make a new Ipod bag to match my book bag. I have scraps, and you know how I hate to waste scraps. :)

A punched, layers, scraps card

Another scrap card. I am working from coordinating paper scraps on my desk, and it's a lot of fun.

Here's a detail shot to show the dimension and layers. The little hello sentiment is new to me from SU!. I colored each hello with different CTMH ink pen in bubblegum, sunset and star spangled blue and cut it in a cute banner shape.

Pinwheel card

I finally did it, I made a pinwheel. I was inspired by this card I pinned here. Super cute, and not too difficult. I started with a 2.5 inch piece of double sided patterned paper. I cut from one corner 1 inch in towards the center, then repeated it all the way around. I put a glue dot in the center and folded the corners into the center. Then I added the button with the twine bow to the center. I used a .75 x 3 inch piece of card stock to create my own pinwheel stick. I ran my tape runner down one long side, then rolled from the other end around a skewer and sealed up the taped end.

This is a detail shot to show the dimension of the decoration.

And just for good measure I include this photo to show you how the card still fits in an A2 sized envelope. Its still very bulky so I wouldn't attempt to mail it, but it can be hand delivered or included in a gift box inside an envelope.

Friend pennant card

This is a cute, quick and simple card. I have been seeing pennants and banners all over and couldn't wait to give it a try.

I got to use some of my newly organized mini alphabets for the sentiment, and an faux stitch stamp. I also added a layered flower and a pearl for some bling to finish it off. Easy peasy.

Sewing and organizing

This is what I am working on right now. Its going to be a book bag when its all said and done. I got the inspiration from here, and just had to run with it. I have been saving this gorgeous Disney inspired fabric selection for just the right project. Something I could use every day and enjoy seeing it often. Perfect solution. It's not completed yet but I wanted to share because it has been dominating my attention and time lately. I will post a photo when it is completed.

I am also working on organizing a little bit. I have had a few trips to Scheel's and Cabella's with my guys this past month, and these are my big finds. I do not know where I originally read about using ammo boxes to store the small alphabet stamp sets, but they work perfectly. They make it really easy to use the stamps, pulling them out and replacing is a dream. Yea!!!

Masculine thank you cards

Hi! I have been sewing lately....... and spending way too much time on pinterest.com too. But I really have to get on the thank you cards my son needs to send out for 18th birthday and high school graduation gifts. So here are my first 2 attempts.

His school colors were black and gold so that dictated the color scheme. At least for the graduation thank you's. Maybe for the birthday ones I will stick with the same style and switch to blues since that is his favorite color.

So here they are side by side. What do you think? Which is your favorite combination? I have to make a stack of them so maybe just to keep it interesting I will do half and half.....who knows.

Thanks for stopping by. I will post my sewing project as soon as it is done. I am hoping to have some major play time this weekend.....cross your fingers for me.

Patchwork birthday card

I have a dear friends birthday coming up soon. I needed a "wow" card. I found one on pinterest.com. I did my best to mimic it, I sure wish I had the brights and yellows coordinating papers, but I went with what I had. I love these K & Company chocolate neopolitan papers. The stitching is actually two CTMH stamps. I cheated. I also added some ribbon from my stash, a little bakers twine, a gorgeous rose embellishment by Recollections and some chocolate pearls by CTMH. I hope she likes it.

Scrap cards

Well, it has been a while. I kind of lost my mojo. Between being busy and just being brain tired, I had no desire to play in my craft room. Until last night......
Both of these cards where inspired by face book updates all week long by Paper Crafts by Candace. You should totally "like" her on face book. She does tons of amazing things. All week long she has been creating form the scraps on her work area. I love that, and challenge myself now and again to do it too. Perfect timing, cuz I have a stack literally 3 inches high of paper scraps from projects as far back as Christmas. I know this because the buried papers on my desk are Christmas papers. *palm to forehead* It has been way too long since I cleaned off my desk.

This card was CASE'd from thegreenbeanscrafterole.blogspot.com. Absolutely love all the cutey patootey things she thinks up and creates here. Cards are rare for her, but I loved this one and have kept the picture for inspiration for a while. If you clicked over and checked it out, you see I did very little to change it up. It was so darned cute I didn't want to. Since I was using a punch instead of a die to cut my butterfly I did have to change the orientation just a bit, but that's all. I used (drum roll please) yellow polka dot fabric that I recycled from a gorgeous floral bouquet I had received a while ago. Isn't that doubly cool?!?! Recycling at its finest.

This card was loosely CASE'd from pinterest.com. If you haven't discovered this yet, Yikes, do yourself a favor and stay away. I can kill many valuable crafting hours just perusing pinterest. The inspiration, the ideas, the pictures. Oh my!

Butterfly prints & happy greetings cards

These two cards were case'd (copy and share everything) from cassiespaperaddiction.blogspot.com. I hardly changed a thing, that's a case of the original was just so darling I didn't want to make any changes. ;) These were cute and quick to whip up. I really like them.
I used my SU! butterfly prints and happy greetings clear mount stamp sets, and the coordinating butterfly punch.

On this card the butterflies are stamped in CTMH ink in amethyst, hydrangea and gypsy. I added some clear gems for bling and bakers twine bow.

On this one I used CTMH ink in holiday red, tulip and cranberry. I tied the bakers twine around each butterfly for a little antenna look.
