Crocheted moss stitch mobius cowl and ear warmer

Just so you know, its really hard to take a profile selfie. I tried in the mirror and not. I probably took 20 shots. And this is the best I came up with. *eye roll* I really wanted to show the yummy cowl and ear warmer in all it snuggley goodness.

This is a creation of my own design.
1. I was inspired to use these colors by a blouse a friend at work had worn. It was striped with these same hues and I loved it.
2. I was inspired to use the moss stitch by this awesome project, I found on Pinterest, of course.
3. I decided to make it a true mobius cowl from this excellent Youtube video.
4. And I was inspired to create the cute scalloped edge by this easy tutorial.
See, I practice what I preach, I go and find inspiration everywhere.

Here it is up close. I used Patons Astra yarn in Baby Pink, Deep Pink, Medium Grey and Silver Grey Mix. This is my first experience with Patons Astra and it is heavenly. Heavenly to work with and definitely heavenly to wear. So soft and drapey it was perfect for this tight stitch and wide cowl.

I started with the Medium Grey and the chainless foundation single crochet. I gave the length one twist and connected the ends using this excellent tutorial. Then I just started crocheting rounds in different colors. I did several rounds changing colors each row and then I decided I wanted a bolder stripe so I did two rounds per color, then right at the end I did one row of each color again. Hoping to kind of tie it in to the beginning single rows. Finally finishing off with the scallop. It was a lot of fun weaving in all of those ends for each color change, I think for my next project like this I will look for a tutorial where you leave all the yarns connected and just move the yarns up each row. So I wont have to do all that weaving. I am certain I can find something like that on Youtube.

This earwarmer is a happy accident. Believe it or not, when I made the foundation single crochet for this one I tried it around my neck and thought it was going to be the right length. By the time I had finished maybe six rounds it was very apparent it was going to be too tight around my neck. But low and behold it was just a tiny bit loose around my head, so all that work was not lost. I do like this bolder stripe and kind of wish I had stuck with it the second time I started the project, but live and learn. It just gives me incentive to pick out more beautiful yarns and make another. ;D Like I needed and excuse.

Marble cowl

Another uber yummy yarn project. All because a girl fell in love with some yarn a friend had, and coveted it out loud so much that the friend found, purchased and surprised said girl with a skein all her own. (Thanks Ang. You know I love it.) When I first saw the yarn I knew it was perfect for making my very own version of this beauty I had pinned on Pinterest.

It is a fast pattern and turned out perfectly with this gorgeous Marble yarn. I truly love this cowl.

Crochet and ruffle knit projects

I have been busy, oh so busy. Crocheting, knitting, baking and decorating. That's why I haven't been on here in a while. So I will catch you up on several yarn related projects I have completed lately.

Above is my version of this beauty, made from Bernat Softee Chunky in Ultra blue.

A matching Wafflecone Slouchy Hat. I am loving both of these patterns, they crochet up quickly and I think they are cute and fun to wear. These are both 1 skein projects, so that is an additional bonus.

These are ruffle scarves made from Sundance Vintage Frill yarn that I bought at Herrschner's online. This is a beautiful deep red with a funny indescribable red shiny accent at its edges. It is wonderful to work with, knits up quickly and makes one of the laciest and delicate ruffle scarves I have ever completed. I am really impressed with it.

This is the same product in pearl. So feminine and dressy.

One skein of the Vintage Frill product makes a super long scarf. That is why I wrapped it twice around my neck, I could also double it up and put the tail ends through the loop created by the fold but I personally think the way I am wearing them in the above photo's is prettier.

Here is my attempt at a close up the show you the lightness and the edge detail.

The surprising thing is how soft and cuddly they are around the neck. I'm so happy with the product I have already purchased it in black and linen also.

SU! stamp-a-stack event

I had the pleasure of attending my friend Tina's, of The Crazy Stamp Lady blog notoriety, Christmas stamp-a-stack event. Her and her friend Flossie designed many adorable cards and put on a fun and tasty event. As always.

We got to choose 5 designs from the 10 they had available, and make 4 cards of each choice. I had a hard time narrowing down my selections. But my favorites are these two adorable snowmen. Love them. And I learned a new technique, in spite of how long I have been stamping, Tina never fails to teach me something new. We used plain white acrylic paint and a sponge to apply it to the snowman and snowflake stamps and then to the edge of the cardstock to simulate a snowdrift, on the first card pictured above. Loved the texture and depth that the acrylic paint made.

These lil' elf shoes have been making the rounds on Pinterest, I think they are so cute. And so easy to make, I couldn't believe it. Cuteness!

This stamp set it beautiful and in the deep navy blue and silver glitter background it is elegant and serene.

And finally my 3rd favorite, it was a tough choice, but I just love the rustic simplicity of this one. Not to mention the color scheme and the snowflakes. Very pretty.

We enjoyed 5 hours of chatting, eating and crafting. It was a great time. So glad I was able to attend.

More snowflake Christmas cards

Since I was already in a snowflake mood and had the stamp set out I made my own version of this awesome card. I used CTMH Frosted and Merry & Bright stamp sets again with CTMH Holiday Red and discontinued Clover Meadow ink pads. I added some red gems and sprayed with Glimmer Mist in Pearl.

I CAS'd this nontraditional card almost exactly. I thought it was adorable and couldn't wait to recreate it. I used the same stamp sets with CTMH Sunny Yellow, Star Spangled Blue, Holiday Red and Clover Meadow ink pads. I distressed the edges with Distress Ink in Antique Linen. Again adding some CTMH gems for a little bling to finish off the card.

This is a closeup of the supplies used. I hope you enjoyed these less than traditional snowflake cards as much as I did.

Snowflake Christmas cards

The tree is in its stand and the lights are on it. That's enough to justify a break, to go be crafty for a little while, right? I think so. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I have been seeing SO many beautiful Christmas cards on Pinterest lately. It has been getting me inspired to stamp and create with paper again. I have gone through a change in my creative endeavors lately, meaning yarn has consumed my thoughts and actions. But today I have changed that. I have made 5 Christmas cards. Woo Hoo!!!

I saw this card and also this one and morphed them into my version of the snowflake Christmas card you see above. And then I used this card for the color inspiration you see in the card below.

I stamped these cards in a matter of minutes. This kind of card is quick to create and easy to mail also. That's a win-win in my book.

Here are the supplies used for the first two cards: CTMH stamps Frosted Scrapbook Workshop and Frosted Card Workshop stamp sets. CTMH inks in Bubblegum, Pear and Lagoon. CTMH Glitz Silver Glitter Gel and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Abominable Snowman.

And for the last three cards I used: the same two CTMH stamp sets. CTMH inks in Cocoa, Desert Sand, Blush and Cotton Candy. SU! ink in Crumb Cake. CTMH Glitz Almond Glitter Gel, Liquid Pearls in Bisque and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Iridescent Gold.

Fall wreaths over cabinet doors

One more fall decor project to share before I go into full on Christmas crafting and decorating mode. Or I may take a few days off because my dogs are barkin' and I need a nap.

This project is 3 dollar tree grapevine wreaths and 3 different dollar tree leaf swags that I pulled apart. The design was loosely inspired by this pin on Pinterest. I hot glued the leaves to the wreaths and tied a big checkered ribbon bow.

They are hanging over cabinet doors in my dining room, by lengths of ribbon.

Here is a close up of the leaves and some stuff that was on one of the swags. I used it all.

Another close up.

Such a quick and simple project.

This idea was a Pinterest find. Use a command hook on the inside of the cabinet door to hang the wreaths from a length of ribbon. Easy as can be. Now I can make more for different holidays too.
