Valentine's treats and surprises

I made up a basket full of pretty Valentine's goodies to take to church with us this morning. I made some sour cream containers full of M&M's and Hershey's kisses, some butterfly wings around Tootsie pops and a few bookmarks for a non-candy selection. I used a few sheets out of a DCWV spring pack from last year.

Here are the sour cream containers. I cut all the heart layers from my Cricut using Doodlecharms cartridge.

These are the butterfly wings also created using Doodlecharms cartridge and lil circles from George basic shapes cartridge to pass the Tootsie pop stick through.

And last but not least, the book marks. The scalloped heart is from Doodlecharms, the rest of the pieces are scraps left from cutting the rest of the projects. Love that!!!!

The sour cream container labels and the butterfly wings are both fairly simple designs, but I have already got the layers right and everything test cut so if you would like these .cut file I am happy to share. Leave me a comment and I will send them right out to you.

Pazzles Valentine's treat bags

So.....not being big sports fans, Super bowl Sunday is just an excuse to get the whole family together for good food, commercials, half time entertainment and this time mom and I sat up our Pazzles side by side on a folding table near the family and TV. We played with some files she had downloaded from the Pazzles craft room. This adorable treat bag was designed by someone else. They did an excellent job. This was a great file to cut out and put together. Mom taught me a lot, thanks mom! I had so much fun.

This is a side view of the bags, the design even included perforation lines (called kiss cuts in Pazzles software) so we could put the paper bag style folds in the sides. Awesome feature!

We used the super cute K&Company Valentines paper pack and for the 2nd bag we made we used SU! cardstock and mom taught me how to alter the original shape to make an inline shape (Pazzles speak for a perfectly shaped smaller layer for the patterned paper). We also used the pen tool successfully on the pink circle, the "for you" circular sentiment was part of the downloaded file. Very cool! We were high fiving and squealing over that success.

Coffee filter heart wall decor

I just finished this wall hanging. I saw it on my friend Tina's blog thecrazystamplady.blogspot.com her 02-01-11 post and was inspired to try it right away. Mine is very different, but I went with the supplies I had on hand. Which was bright white coffee filters, so I misted them with Tattered angels glimmer mists and chalkboard mists, and ribbons of all kinds but no burlap, so again I used what I have on hand.
Also the lighting is terrible for photographing this project right now. Hopefully the sun will shine tomorrow and I will take a photo of the heart on my dining room wall.

This is a close up, and shows but does not do justice to the mists applied. I used The girls' paperie tinsel & twig paper. It's meant for Christmas but I think it works great for Valentine's day also. I used some sheer organza ribbon and some crocheted cotton lace also, for around the outside of the heart.
I up-cycled a Ritz cracker box for a chip board base and then I just taped the torn paper bits on, Mod Podge is just too messy for my tastes. My crumpled coffee filter heart was loose and kind of formless so I cinched it up with an organza bow. I tied it all the way around the outside and bowed it at the top where there should be a small point. It helped to pull it in tighter and give it a bit more heart shape. I punched two holes with my crop-a-dile and am hanging it with a thin leather cording. I like all the contrast of sheer ribbon, cotton lace and leather.
This went together really fast, and now I want to go to Michaels and get some cute cupcake wrappers like Tina did hers with. Thanks Tina, you and your crazy ladies find the coolest crafts! Can't wait to see next months project.

More ribbon heart valentine cards

I'm doing it again, mildly obsessing on a project. I have made 2 more cards from the same heart .cut file. I'm enjoying this design and my head is spinning with more silhouette/cut out ideas. This one is full of reasonable ribbon club selections. I thought I might never find a way to use these animal prints. This one is outside my usual comfort zone, but now that it's done and loaded with bling I like it.

This just may be my favorite ribbon heart yet. So sweet and girly. I used liquid pearls in baby pink to outline the heart cut out, and all of my beautiful reasonable ribbon club pink selections.

Here is a close up of the ribbon rosette, and my liquid pearls outline. Isn't it sweet?

I think I am done with heart shapes now. I want to try a flower shape and I'm thinking maybe a Mickey Mouse silhouette. Stay tuned. ;)

Ribbon heart valentine

This was a fun card to make, using all the gorgeous ribbons I tend to hoard. This is a pretty way to use lots of pieces coordinating together. I took my inspiration from thegreenbeanscrafterole.blogspot.com. I cut the heart out on my Cricut using Disney Mickey and friends cartridge. Then I took the center cut out piece and ran it through the 5 inch xyron. After peeling off the protective layers, with the glue exposed I laid the ribbon across the heart. I started in the center and worked my way out to the edges.

I let the ribbon ends hang over about a 1/2 inch and attached them to the back of the other black piece of cardstock. I did a little faux stitching, and added a red gingham bow and a big white heart brad. I embossed the be mine from CTMH stamp set Tag the Occasion, and its ready to give to your valentine.

Masculine birthday card

I love this SU! medallion stamp. I have not inked it up nearly enough in my humble opinion. But I got a fabulous inspiration from obsessedwithstamping.blogspot.com and ran with it. My hubby's birthday is next week, so this is perfect timing. I love it when this happens.

Here is a lil detail shot. I used 5 or 6 different chalk ink cats eye sized pads to ink up the medallion. And I was not too terribly careful about being perfect. I was however careful to start with the lightest ink and layer on lightest to darkest to minimize cross contaminating ink pads. I embossed the medallion and the sentiment too. The buttons are faux stitched with tiny scraps of paper. I learned this time saving tip from andreawalford.com. The blue button is from a box of buttons Jas's mom gave me a while ago. She has since passed, so it warms my heart to include a touch from her on this card.

Valentine's treat box

I found this tutorial for the cute treat box here. There is an awesome gallery of completed treat boxes with all different decorations and embellishments. So fun. So cute.

I used SU! real red cardstock for the base and the first layer of is crumb cake. The patterned paper is from K&Company new Valentine paper pack. I used some ribbon from reasonableribbon.com to tie the top together and cut some paper strips to crinkle up and use as packing fluff. Now I am ready to fill with all kinds of yummy chocolaty goodies.
