Scrap cards

These are three more stash building, scrap using cards I have made during lunch breaks at work. I used this inspiration from Pinterest, and some CTMH paper packs to create these. The CTMH paper designs are from left to right, Typeset, Florentine and Pemberley.

Here's a close up of my favorite. I love the Florentine paper and the colors. See the twine? Its actually the cotton crochet thread, Sugar n' Cream. It's a variegated with 4 strands of thread. Two stands of white and 1 strand of a lighter color and 1 strand of darker color. So you divide it in half with 1 strand white and 1 of color. Very inexpensive to use this way. I couldn't find a good selection at my local Joann store. Just green and blue. But that's good for starters, and I used it on all three of those cards above.

This is the same pieces, I just switched it up. No twine wrapping to make them look like presents. This is a discontinued CTMH paper design, I believe it was called Boom-di-ada. Pretty bright colors.

Stacked favor boxes

These are darling 2 inch cubes cut on my Cricut, stamped with an all over design, filled with M&M's and stacked together and tied with a bow. I saw one similar here and was inspired to create my own. On my .cut file in Design studio I made it so I could add the cut of either the heart or the oval shape on the front of the plain boxes. I lined those cut out shapes with acetate on the inside of the box as I was assembling it.

This is a side view.

And here you see them from the back. I did use a little bit of tape runner to hold the lid from the bottom ones to the base of the one above it. Just to stabilize the whole tower. In the great picture tutorial on Oodabugalley blog she did quite a bit of manual altering of the die cut for the favor box, I didn't want to do all that so the taping lid to base helped with the stabilization problem.

I used my George basic shapes cartridge in the Design studio software for the Cricut. If you have all this and would like to give your hand at making these favor boxes I am happy to share my .cut file. Leave a comment below including your email address and I will mail it to you.

Embedded embossing top note style card

This is my take on inspiration that I found here. I used CTMH Florentine paper and my Cricut Design studio and Accent essentials cartridge. I cut out the five petal flowers, the white top not style shape and the yellow top note style shape. Then I glued down the flowers and ran the whole piece through the cuttlebug in a SU! embossing folder. I believe the technique is called embedded embossing. Add a pretty bow, some pearls and a sentiment from my new sentiment set I purchased from Shawn, here, and it is finished.

Easter sketch card

A springy card inspired from this sketch. I used 1.25 inch scalloped circle punches of DCWV baby girl mat stack papers. Then I fussy cut two bunnies and a little bird from one of the paper designs.

This is just a close up of the CTMH sentiment in Topiary ink and a little blue heart button with a yellow bakers twine bow.

Peeps in a row card

I created this card on my Cricut using Design studio after I saw this pin on Pinterest. It was just too cute to resist. I thought I might luck out and find a silhouette like this on my Easter 2010 cartridge, but no such luck. So I used trusty George basic shapes and put this together. I think it's pretty good.

A close up shot to show the little bit of embellishing. Cute brads for tails and some bakers twine and a flower and I think they are just too cute.

So if you want this simple .cut file. I can send it to you. Leave your email address in the comments below and I will get it out to you.

Disney inspired birthday card

Here is my first creation, using my first ever home made embossing folder I posted here. And I used my newest sentiment stamps, designed and sold by Shawn at Passion for Craftin blog.

I just used some sponge daubers to add rows of color to the mickey silhouettes.

Pretty cool, huh?

I made my own embossing folder

I found an awesome tutorial on making your own embossing folders here on Pinterest. She had created this very same design, and being the Disney nut that I am I couldn't wait to recreate it. And it was easy!

I used a cereal box for my free chipboard. I used my Cricut and Design studio and George basic shapes and Disney Mickey font cartridge and Voila! a personalized embossing folder. Oh, the possibilities. My head is spinning with ideas.

If you attempt this (and I totally think you should) I learned a few things. My recycled cereal box chipboard did create some fluff that gathered around the blade inside the housing, so do take the housing out and push the blade down and give it a good huff to clear away anything gathering on it. My cereal boxes took 3 passes to cut very cleanly through. My settings on the machine were pressure at high, speed at high and my blade at 4 for the depth. I used my regular blade housing, not the deep cut. With 3 passes it cut perfectly.

If you want this .cut file, rather then redesigning it. It wasn't hard, but why spend the time if you can get it already done? I am happy to share. Leave a comment, with your email address and I will send it to you.

Card file

I know you will be surprised to learn I was inspired to create this paper card file from this pin on Pinterest. I created it for my Cricut using Design studio and George basic shapes cartridge. My favorites.

This card file is holding 8 standard A2 sized cards and 8 envelopes. The cards are bulky and each has a ribbon bow or knot, giving them extra thickness, so if you had single layer cards it would hold many more. The finished size is 4.75 x 6 x 2 inches.

This is a peek at the back side. Every side is decorated, these cuts are on the Cricut .cut file also.

Below are lots of pictures to illustrate assembling all the pieces.

1. Score side 1.

2. Attach decorative layers to side 1.

3. Score side 2. Attach decorative piece.

4. Attach side 1 to side 2, overlapping as seen above.

5. Folding side 2 over side 1, run tape around all sides of tab on side 2 as shown above.

6. Fold tab from side 1 over taped tab from side 2.

7. Run tape around small side tab and across long end as seen above. (Remember you can double click on any photo's and they will open up bigger for you to see the details clearer.)

8. Flip the whole thing over and run tape around all sides of other small tab.

9. To easily attach the long taped edge to the inside of the file, this creates a sturdier bottom, I pushed the small tabs in (so they won't attach to the bottom before you are ready) and then I slid the long end inside and got it perfectly lined up before I sealed the tape to the inside of the file. Then from the inside I pressed the 2 small tabs down.

10. This is a sturdy bottom now. It supports the cards and envelopes very well.

Another view of the finished file.

And holding its loot. A ribbon around the whole thing, maybe a tag or some sort of label on the front side and it is all ready for gift giving.

As always, if you would like to create these for yourself just leave a comment on this post. Be sure to include you email address, and I will send you the .cut file.

A sweet surprise

Look what I got in the mail today. Isn't it beautiful? Look familiar? It should, it is the same design I just posted yesterday. The cards I have been making at work, this is one made by my sweet friend Barb. We craft most every day during our lunch break, we have decided it is a great escape and it makes us happier people. When she was working on this paper combination I raved over it. I love polka dots and I just loved every single thing about it. So she mailed it to me, as a sweet surprise, with a lovely note inside about our friendship and our time spent together. I LOVE IT!

And another thing, I highly recommend sending a sweet "just because" note to a friend. What a wonderful surprise. It really made me happy to open it. It was even better than ribbon club mail. ;)
