Be yourself silhouette card

This hot pink and black card is made for a dear friend who is not feeling well. I hope she loves it.

I used three different CTMH stamp sets, and the CTMH black archival ink and hollyhock ink.

I added ribbon and pearls for some bling and also sprayed the whole front of the card with Tattered angels glimmer mist in iridescent gold. That doesn't show in the photo, but its gorgeous in person.

Northern flurry embossed Christmas cards

I know, I know....Christmas cards in March?!?! Really? But I can explain. I spent probably an hour or two this morning drooling over sandimaciver.com. But this card jumped out at me.  I really love it. So I had to make it right then and there. 5:30am in my craft room making Christmas cards. Yes, cards. Because I almost never make just one. My way of thinking is I already have all the supplies out and I'm already cutting into an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper so why not make 2? Or 4? That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Aren't they gorgeous? Rustic? Country? My only real drift from the original inspiration card was the SU! cherry cobbler card stock and stamping the sentiment in red. Everything else is as close to the inspiration card as I could approximate.

I pulled out my box of Christmas stamps looking for the perfect sentiment. Lucky for me I was already thinking of making 4 cards because I found 4 perfect sentiments. Serendipity!

I used a Dew drop brilliance moonlight white lil ink pad to ink the embossed areas and the edges of the craft cardstock.

The cotton lace and the large metal brad are such cool country shabby embellishments. I really love the combination. My brads where too bright, so I toned them down with a little chalk ink and embossing powder and a shot from the heat gun worked its magic.

They went together really quick. It's a great card idea. So glad I lucked onto Sandi's website, she has a ton of amazing inspiration.

A sneak peek and a many layered card

This is a little peek at what has been keeping me busy this week. I am working on a baby girl brag book and it is not coming together easily. Its for my hubby's niece, her first baby, and I think I am putting a lot of pressure on myself.

I got a bag full of SU! goodness delivered to me yesterday, so I had lots of temptation laying around on my desk. I decided to take a lil break and play with those. This is what I came up with.

What started out as a simple card idea turned into a layer-licious card. With pop dots, ribbon and buttons...oh my. It still came together fairly quick. The color scheme was determined by some ribbon from one of my monthly kits that I had not broke out yet.

8 things about myself:

1. I have been crafting all my life. Sewing, embroidery, cross stitch, crochet, quilting, photography, scrapbooking and papercrafting is my newest addiction.

2. I have a Cricut, a Cricut Expressions and now a Pazzles. I am finally ready to let go of my first baby bug, I am running out of counter space since my mom gifted me with a Pazzles for Christmas.

3. I learn so much from youtube tutorial videos and am so thankful to those that make them, but I would die of fright if I tried to make one myself. I get all tongue tied and silly when I know that all attention is on me.

4. Married to my high school sweety for coming up on 22 years on April fools day. :) That's right, we married on April fools day, even the minister made a lil joke about it during the ceremony.

5. I have two sons, pride and joy of my life, that can test my patience to the bitter end. Isn't that how it goes? They are good, kind and considerate boys, I'm proud of that, the rest will come with maturity.

OK, those are all fine and dandy but lets do an off the wall fact or two.

6. I love bagpipe music and men in kilts. *sigh*

7. I love tye dye. I literally have enough tye dye tee's that I could wear a different one every day for two weeks straight. The brighter the tye dye the better. It just makes me smile.

8. If I never went on another non-Disney related vacation, I would be totally ok with that. Much to the chagrin of my guys and my mom. I am single minded in my vacation destination.

Now I'm all warmed up to this task. I could keep spilling useless facts about myself, but lets get on to the good stuff. I am a blog stalker extraordinaire. I have a feeds list a mile long. Love them, love the inspiration I can always find there. So here are my new finds, I hope you enjoy.

Baby shower card

I took my inspiration for this card from http://www.sandimaciver.com/ her 01-26-11 post. The color inspiration came from some of the things the mother had requested on her registry. Love the brown, green and pink combo. Cute but not over the top girly traditional. Hopefully like my card.

The ribbon is from another great monthly club set from Really reasonable ribbons, and the lil flower is a beauty I picked up from Scrapbook Expo this year. I wish I had paid closer attention to who made them because I am almost out and would love to get more. They are so sweet. The alphabet stamps are CTMH Doodle alphabet. Love them too.

Another wonderful SU! card class

I am fortunate to know several wonderful SU! demonstrators. Even more fortunate that they love to create and prepare fun classes for us to attend. I went to an event Sunday afternoon where we made 9 different cards. Gorgeous cards. I'm so happy I went.

So from what I understand most everything used on all 9 of these cards is from their annual Sale-a-bration catalog.

Woo Hoo! New stuff. Love it.

And such a variety of designs and ideas. Love it!

Look, pompom ribbon! Love it!!

And the beautiful spring colors of the SU! ice cream parlor paper pack. Love it!!!

More pompom ribbon. Super-dee-duper love it!!!!

I must confess, even though this is not bright springy colors. This was my fave design of the day. Stunning.

And look a boy card. Cool boy card at that. That's never easy to accomplish.

2-5-7-10 box with paper roses

It's a crazy name for such a pretty gift bag. Split Coast Stampers newsletter revisited this oldy but goody this week. You can find the tutorial here and there is a link in the gallery to a youtube video also. I do love a good tutorial video.

Here is a close up of my paper roses and leaves.

Here is a side view to give you an idea of the dimension of the roses.

I started with two 3.5 inch squares and one 2.5 inch square, which I free hand cut into a rough scallop circle.

This is a detail shot of the free hand scallop spiral cuts I made from the outer edge all the way into the center.

The rolling starts from the outside, rolling towards the inside then hold it all together with a glue dot on the center circle area, pressing the rolled petals down into the glue dot. At this point I pressed the petals outward and rolling slightly for texture. Not bad for my first real attempt. A few things I will try next time. Using lighter cardstock or patterned paper (this was SU! cardstock,some of the thickest I work with) and I will cut a more precise scallop circle on one of my electronic cutters.
