Another coin envelope and Valentine card

Here is a more girly version of my coin envelope and mini Valentine card I posted here yesterday. I really love how this turned out. Partially I'm really happy with it because I used scraps that were sitting on my work area from all my other recent Valentine's projects. Woo Hoo! I love using up scraps. The envelope cuts from a 6 x 6 inch piece of paper, and I had one left of the My Minds Eye papers, so I was off and running.




Here is the cutey patootey mini card out of the envelope. Love it!!! Buttons and ruffles and bakers twine, Oh My!

Coin envelopes and mini Valentine cards

These were inspired by the pinning of this envelope template on Pinterest. The creators idea was that it could be printed on paper and then manually cut out. I decided I needed a .cut file for that job. Then I decided a lovely heart in the middle of the front of that .cut file would be even better. Then I decided that I could not waste the heart cut out from the front of the envelope, so I added it to the front of a mini card that would fit inside the mini envelope. That is exactly how my mind catapults from one idea to the next....to the next....and so on.

When designing the .cut file I wanted it to cut from a 6 x 6 inch piece of paper. Like from the adorable Pink Paislee Old School paper pad I just bought. So the finished size is a little larger than 2.5 x 4.25 inches. It will fit a 2.5 x 4.25 inch card.

Here is the mini cards pulled out of the envelopes. I kept them simple because these are for my sons. The size would be perfect for giving a gift card also. Also on my .cut file you can cut an envelope without a window to the front, and I also added a star window. I'm thinking fourth of July.

Lacey scallop heart Valentine's

I am going just a touch Valentine's crazy. I don't know why, my guys would all be perfectly happy with  candy and nothing else. But I just can't help myself. I love these girly, foofy, ruffly pretty Valentine's. These  were inspired by this pin on Pinterest. I apparently have not gotten enough of the kraft, red and ivory combo either. I just received a bunch of SU! Cherry Cobbler ribbons so I was eager to get to use those.

Here is the close up so you can see more of the details. Both of the scallop hearts are cut on my Cricut using Martha Stewart Seasonal cake art cartridge. Then I cut off the bottom half of one scallop heart and used two different Martha Stewart border punches along that edge. Then I ran that piece through the Cuttlebug in a few different embossing folders, for a little texture. A bow held down with a brad, a smattering of pearls, and a CTMH sentiment from the December stamp of the month set stamped in CTMH cranberry ink finishes it off.

These are single layer, reminiscent of the Valentines we used to exchange in school. The finished size is just under and A2 standard envelope size, 4.25 x 5.5 inches so you could put this in a regular envelope. Or it would be lovely used as a tag on a kraft gift bag too.

Scallop heart Valentine's card

This is a quick and easy card inspired by Pinterest. I had scraps sitting on my work area from recent projects, so I used them to create my version of the inspiration card. I cut the scallop hearts and the regular hearts on my Cricut using Martha Stewart Seasonal Cakes cartridge. The hearts are 1.5 inches each. I added a red button with a pearl brad through the two holes for just a touch of bling.

Stamped and embossed bookmark

Just a quick and simple bookmark made from scraps sitting on my work area. I stamped a piece of book page with some CTMH shwoopies and words. Attached it to a strip of red cardstock. Then I embossed it with my heart embossing folder and attached it to the kraft card stock. There is a red eyelet. I tied a rickrack tassel through it and that is all. Little bookmark gifty ready to go.

Butterfly embossed card

First off, I apologize for the cruddy pictures. It was a seriously grey, rainy day. I love them, but my phone camera could not compensate. I had on all the overhead lights, my Ott light and my flash and just could not get a better picture. Ugh!

This is one of those cards we all dislike making. A sympathy card. They are always tough, and trying to keep them in the right mood goes against my nature. But I found two great ideas here and here and mashed them together. I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

I decided to use book print for the strip across the front, and then I used a book page for the embossed background too. The friend I was giving this too is a book worm, although her new Kindle has reduced the amount of actual books she is buying, but I believe that is her first love. So I thought it was appropriate.

Then I went with a nice soft brown and pink color scheme and added the pearls to the embossed pattern too. Bitty brads in the corners and brown bakers twine. It's pretty much embellished to the hilt.

Here is a close up detail shot. Which reminds me I inked the edges of everything with gingerbread chalk ink too. I had such a hard time deciding what to write on the inside so I actually google searched for help. I found a great resource here for meaningful quotes and comments. It really helped me word the feelings I wanted to convey.

Valentine paper basket

This little heart shaped paper basket was inspired by Pinterest, again. I find the best inspirations on Pinterest. This was cut on my Cricut using the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge in Design Studio software. I used the same 4.25 x 3 x 1 inch box base as I used for the paper purse. Then created the front and back panels and layers and the handle also.

The papers are SU! card stock and My Minds Eye Meadowlark patterned paper set. I am loving the bold color with the black and white pattern.

Here is a detail shot from above. Just so you can see a bit of the depth of the box base. This is important because this is where you will load up the chocolates for your sweeties. ;)

Paper purses

I saw this cute paper purse here, on Pinterest. and knew right away that I could design something very similar to be cut out with my Cricut and the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge. So this is my first attempt. I used SU! card stock and polka dot patterned paper too.

These are my second attempts. The only change I made was to make the scallop circle larger to reach all the way across the top of the purse opening. This patterned paper is My Minds Eye Meadowlark paper set.

Here you can see the pink purse open. I used velcro circles to hold the flap closed. The actual box part of the purse is 4.25 x 3 x 1 inch so it will hold a little gift or a nice selection of candies.

Heart shaped paper pocket

This Valentine's decoration is made on the Cricut using CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge and the letters are left over from the candle tin project I posted here. These were the first letters I had cut and they were a little too small for using on the tins, so they found a new purpose on this decoration.

I used My Minds Eye State of the Heart papers again. They cut beautifully with the Cricut.

Here is a detail shot so you can see the pocket part. The heart is actually about 4.5 x 4.5 inches and about 1.25 inches wide at the sides.

The pocket is available on the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge, and then also I created the layers and the handle in Design Studio and would be happy to share this .cut file. Please leave me a comment here with your email address and I will send the file to you.

Another altered Starbucks bottle

Here is another altered Starbuck's bottle for Valentine's day. I used more Martha Stewart punches to decorate this bottle.

Altered tin can candle holders

I altered some cute tiny little cans, that once held mushroom pieces, to be decorative votive candle holders for the Valentine's season. My mom kept the little cans for me after using them mushrooms in a recipe and realizing that the insides are finished white and the cans looked perfect after her fancy can opener finished the edges so nice. She knows my small obsession with upcycling and suggested I use these to create something with.

I used a beautiful paper kit by My Minds Eye called State of the Heart. I also used my Cricut with the Storybook cartridge for the letters.  

Here is a closed up of the letters. They are cut at 2 inches and there are actually 4 different layers. The chipboard base. The cream letter base. There is a pink solid decorative layer and finally the brick red top decorative layer.

More detail shots. You see the pink showing through the red only at the little holes cut in the red top layer.

I embellished with some doodle dots of Cotton Candy Stickles on each letter.

And here they are in action. Sitting atop my hutch with a collection of hurricanes and Partylite Cranberry candles. I think I need some vanilla colored ribbons tied around each hurricane. That might be pretty.

Valentine's altered Starbucks bottles

I have been collecting a few of the Starbucks Frappucino bottles to create these altered gift bottles. I have been collecting these ideas and inspirations on Pinterest for quite a while.

I used coordinating papers from DCWV's spring stacks from a couple of years ago. Also using my Martha Stewart lacy heart border punches. Embellished the lid and bottles with ribbons from my most recent Really Reasonable Ribbons month club shipment.

Here is the layered lid decoration. Created with punches and glued together then added to the lid with pop dots. I filled the bottle with small conversation hearts.

Here is the second and larger of the two bottles.

Filled with large conversation hearts. Ready to give for Valentine's Day.

Valentine's day cards

I finally got to play with some paper and stamps and ink today. I had to go back to work this week after a lovely holiday vacation and then this weekend has been full of household projects and repairs, so these are the only projects for a whole week. I was having a little bit of withdrawal symptoms.

The above cards color scheme is the same as these Christmas snowflake cards. I added some hearts embossed from a new embossing folder I got at Sacramento Scrapbook Expo this year. Also some CTMH Glitz in Stardust accentuates all of the hearts and  grosgrain ribbon knot.

This card was inspired by this Pinterest pin. Just CTMH Hollyhock color used in cardstock and ink on my new Jubilation stamp set. The sentiment is out of my stash, I have had it for too long, I can't remember the manufacturer.

These CTMH Jubilation stamped cards where inspired by this, this and this Pinterest pins. Again they are embellished with the CTMH Glitz in Stardust and a healthy spray of Glimmer mists in pearl. My camera doesn't begin to capture the pretty shimmer, glimmer and glam. They are really pretty in person.
