Disneyland 50th birthday trip pics

Since I have nothing creative to share just yet, as I have just returned from an epic 50th birthday trip with my mom, I will share some of the fun pictures from Disneyland.



Here we are sitting on the porch on Main Street. There was actually a couple of gentlemen sitting here who offered to vacate so we could snap a quick pic. One of them was wearing a button that said Porch Potato. It's a real thing there. I wish I was close enough to visit the park that often and earn the title Porch Potato.



The park is dressed up in its party finest.



Perfect ending to a perfect first day. Shared with 10,000 of our closest friends.



Beautiful Carthay Circle Restaurant in Disney California Adventure.



Cooling our heels in the lounge, waiting for our lunch reservations. By the way, every single thing about this restaurant is AMAZING!!! Ambiance, decor, cast members and the food. Oh the food!!! Such an amazing meal.



So much fun having a chat with Fifi the Photographer. Sweet, sweet lady. (Wow, I just noticed the background. No other guests. That is deceiving because the park was pretty busy.)



We Uber'd (that's a verb now, right?) from our time share right to the front doors of Disneyland Hotel. What an amazing time saving and inexpensive plan that was. It cost $6.25 plus a little tip, and saved us walking from the shuttle area, through the security check points, all the way down through Downtown Disney to the hotel on the complete opposite end. Not that I don't love walking the entire length of Downtown Disney, just not when we have reservations so I can't dawdle and shop. We enjoyed an AMAZING breakfast at Steakhouse 55. I highly recommend this restaurant. Another location that feels like an event just by the ambiance and decor. But the food was so delicious and the price shocked me at how reasonable it was. Be sure to add it to your to-do list next time you visit Disneyland. You will not be disappointed.

Disney style card set

Using some Disney style paper and some Mickey punches to create a batch of Disney note cards to give as a thank you gift.

The paper is by Creative Imaginations and the stamps are a pack from Joanns, but I can't find the label anymore.

Sizzix flip it card Disney style

I think this is my first Sizzix flip it card. My mom got this great Sizzix die set on sale on line and shared it with me. Of course I happened to have awesome Disney papers lying on my work space so I decided to use them. Then I found the perfect stamp for the fireworks themed paper. 

It was meant to be.

I am thrilled with how it turned out. Let the paper do all the hard work and it turns out adorable. Love this flip it style. The dies make it so simple to achieve. Win, Win!!!

Embedded embossed quilt block card with a Disney theme

I was inspired by all my Disney themed scraps to make a quick quilt block card. I adhered all my 1 inch punch squares to a scrap piece of paper and then cut it, a larger cardstock layer out of black and then two much smaller layers for my sentiment, all on my Cricut using CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge. I stamped the zig zag stitch lines and then I ran the quilt block piece through the Cuttlebug with one of the new CTMH Embossing Folders. The yellow strip of paper is scored on my score board and layered onto a 4 x 5.25 inch piece of white cardstock that I scored across the top and bottom. Adhere my quilt block layers and pop up my sentiment and this simple scrap card is finished.

Mini composition books covered in washi tape

It's back to school time. That means the stores are full of wonderful things just waiting to be altered. I found these little composition books at Walmart, 3 for under a dollar. I couldn't resist. Mostly because I had just seen this awesome Pin on Pinterest. I have a serious washi tape addiction. This is a super fun way to make some little gifts using my pretty tapes as the star of the show.

I followed her awesome picture tutorial for the front of the little notebook. I didn't do the backs or insides with this same technique mostly because I only had one sheet of sticker paper in my stash and I needed to make 3 of these for gifts.....and 1 for myself too. :)

I covered the backs and the insides of the covers with paper scraps. I used the awesome glue sticks I stocked up on in the back to school aisle. Elmers X-treme is my favorite for mini album covers and the like. It really holds tight all the way to the edges, I have been using it for 3 years now and not a single cover has failed yet.

I decided to keep with the composition book look and I used black duct tape, trimmed to about 1 inch wide, to wrap the spine of the book.  I figured it would also help prevent the washi tape from lifting along the outer edge. I had wrapped the tape around the other edges into the inside and then secured them under the paper I used to line the insides. The paper had two purposes, decoration and making sure the washi tape did not lift.

It's hard to tell here, but what I am attempting to show you is that I decorated the edges of lots of pages of the composition book with a variety of washi tapes to make the inside as pretty as the outside.

Every lady should have a pretty little notebook in their purse for jotting notes and lists and such. Why carry around an ugly notebook?

Pinterest inspired cards

Once again I saw a card today on Pinterest here, that instantly had me inspired. I used bits and pieces that were already on my desk area to create both of these cards. The CTMH Glitter Gems and the ribbon from recent Reasonable Ribbon club packs are the only new things I used. Even the black flowers above where left over from a prior card project where I was attempting to use the negative space, but kept these flowers knowing that I would find a use for them. I was right. 

I still had little bits of this polka dot papers left from my Disney themed altered magnet board project. They were perfect for punching the smallest flowers from the SU! Boho Blossom punch. The green leaves are the largest flower from that punch and I just cut the flower into parts and glued them to the flowers. The sentiment on this card is a long retired CTMH stamp, but I thought it was perfect for this bright and playful card.

With the exception of number 3, but it was created using the number 1 post creation, so it still counts as Pinterest inspired. Suffice it to say I am addicted to Pinterest, and it is helping me be creative. Be merry banner

 

My latest holiday banner. It's a simple one since it is so last minute. The Mickey mouse silhouettes are cut on my Cricut using Mickey font cartridge and the letters are from George basic shapes cartridge. I punched holes and inserted eyelets using my Crop-o-dile and thread bakers twine through them to hang it up.
 

Here is a close up. Simple but cute. I had the idea to use some of these silhouettes as ornaments too, but I will probably not get that done before the holiday is over and I am taking down decorations. Oh well, the best laid plans....

Washi tape Disney themed card

This card, full of Washi tape goodness, was inspired by a post at kwernerdesign.com. She is currently working on a Christmas series and made a beautiful Washi tape Christmas card. You can see I went in a different direction. I had this adorable Washi tape collection from Scrapbook Expo this year, I needed to do some creating with. I added a bit of bakers twine and layered some punches and added some doodle marks. Simple and sweet I think.

Disney style tags & tag gift box

Oh my, where do I start. I mean it's Disney inspired. It's washi tape. It's cuteness knows no bounds, in my humble opinion. 

I was inspired to create this Cricut .cut file originally, by this beautiful project on Pinterest. You can see my first creation after having created the Cricut .cut file, posted here. Which made a fun little birthday present I gave to a friend at work. And now I have another birthday for a friend, another Disney fanatic, so I was inspired to create this set. Dare I admit how easy it was to put this together since I had a ton of Disney color coordinating supplies to choose from? I have a long standing love of Reasonable Ribbon monthly ribbon club and I have a new found but ever growing love of washi tape (or paper tape, as washi might actually be a brand name. I'm not sure). So far I have found all of my washi tape at really great prices offered at Groopdealz. But you have to move fast there, because their washi tape offers go FAST! So I must not be the only one with the addiction. 

I created this .cut file using Cricut George Basic Shapes cartridge in Design studio. So if you use those and would like to recreate this project in your own styles, I am happy to share this file. Leave a comment below, including your email address and I will send it out to you.
