Heart shaped paper pocket

This Valentine's decoration is made on the Cricut using CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge and the letters are left over from the candle tin project I posted here. These were the first letters I had cut and they were a little too small for using on the tins, so they found a new purpose on this decoration.

I used My Minds Eye State of the Heart papers again. They cut beautifully with the Cricut.

Here is a detail shot so you can see the pocket part. The heart is actually about 4.5 x 4.5 inches and about 1.25 inches wide at the sides.

The pocket is available on the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge, and then also I created the layers and the handle in Design Studio and would be happy to share this .cut file. Please leave me a comment here with your email address and I will send the file to you.

Here is another altered Starbuck's bottle for Valentine's day. I used more Martha Stewart punches to decorate this bottle.

Altered tin can candle holders

I altered some cute tiny little cans, that once held mushroom pieces, to be decorative votive candle holders for the Valentine's season. My mom kept the little cans for me after using them mushrooms in a recipe and realizing that the insides are finished white and the cans looked perfect after her fancy can opener finished the edges so nice. She knows my small obsession with upcycling and suggested I use these to create something with.

I used a beautiful paper kit by My Minds Eye called State of the Heart. I also used my Cricut with the Storybook cartridge for the letters.  

Here is a closed up of the letters. They are cut at 2 inches and there are actually 4 different layers. The chipboard base. The cream letter base. There is a pink solid decorative layer and finally the brick red top decorative layer.

More detail shots. You see the pink showing through the red only at the little holes cut in the red top layer.

I embellished with some doodle dots of Cotton Candy Stickles on each letter.

And here they are in action. Sitting atop my hutch with a collection of hurricanes and Partylite Cranberry candles. I think I need some vanilla colored ribbons tied around each hurricane. That might be pretty.

Valentine's altered Starbucks bottles

I have been collecting a few of the Starbucks Frappucino bottles to create these altered gift bottles. I have been collecting these ideas and inspirations on Pinterest for quite a while.

I used coordinating papers from DCWV's spring stacks from a couple of years ago. Also using my Martha Stewart lacy heart border punches. Embellished the lid and bottles with ribbons from my most recent Really Reasonable Ribbons month club shipment.

Here is the layered lid decoration. Created with punches and glued together then added to the lid with pop dots. I filled the bottle with small conversation hearts.

Here is the second and larger of the two bottles.

Filled with large conversation hearts. Ready to give for Valentine's Day.

Valentine's day cards

I finally got to play with some paper and stamps and ink today. I had to go back to work this week after a lovely holiday vacation and then this weekend has been full of household projects and repairs, so these are the only projects for a whole week. I was having a little bit of withdrawal symptoms.

The above cards color scheme is the same as these Christmas snowflake cards. I added some hearts embossed from a new embossing folder I got at Sacramento Scrapbook Expo this year. Also some CTMH Glitz in Stardust accentuates all of the hearts and  grosgrain ribbon knot.

This card was inspired by this Pinterest pin. Just CTMH Hollyhock color used in cardstock and ink on my new Jubilation stamp set. The sentiment is out of my stash, I have had it for too long, I can't remember the manufacturer.

These CTMH Jubilation stamped cards where inspired by this, this and this Pinterest pins. Again they are embellished with the CTMH Glitz in Stardust and a healthy spray of Glimmer mists in pearl. My camera doesn't begin to capture the pretty shimmer, glimmer and glam. They are really pretty in person.

Snowflake thank you cards

So, as you might notice I am continuing on with the same paper as I have used for the last two posts here and here. This card design was inspired by Pinterest again, I just love Pinterest, so many talented people out there and now a super quick and efficient way to save all the inspiration I find on the internet.

Here is a close up, so you can see the 3 layers of snowflakes held together with a tiny glittered brad and the little Thank you banner, that I curved a bit to give it some flowy shape and popped up on a pop dot. So the patterned paper was scraps from the prior cards, so was some of the cardstock and some I had to cut into a new sheet. But that's ok, still using up scraps and that feels good. And its easy when the paper is so cute and well coordinated.

These pictures are taken on my computer counter top in the great room, in front of a big window facing my front yard. The sun is beaming today as it has been almost all winter season, and definitely both of my holiday vacation weeks. I am missing the grey, drizzly winter days we usually get in Sacramento. Where have they gone?
