Origami stars Christmas style

I loved these origami stars so much for Thanksgiving that I couldn't wait to make more for Christmas. The paper is from last years DCWV Christmas stack. The picture above illustrates the end results from a 12 x 12, 10 x 10, 8 x 8 and 6 x 6 piece of paper cut into stars following the tutorial found tracys-trinkets-treasures.blogspot.com.

Here they are with a lil bling added. 2 corduroy brads from SU! and the gingham and polka dot brads are by Memory Makers.

Here they are on the same wall that sported the fall themed ones. Sorry, about the lighting, I took this photo at 10pm with every light in the area on. Not the best, but you get the general idea.

Sneak peek at my exchange ornaments

I have been working diligently in my craft room, but what I am making is for a ornament gift exchange between all my favorite crafty friends at work. Some of them (hi Brandy ;)) see my every post. So I have not forgotten my blog readers, I just have to keep my current projects a secret for just a tad longer. Thankfully I finished all 5 of my ornaments tonight, so now I will move on to some cute wrapping ideas I hope. Since I haven't wrapped a single Christmas present yet.

Pizza box with belly band

This is a great gift box. Super cute, simple and quick to put together. I found this awesome youtube tutorial and had to whip this up. Check out the video by cardcrazy09, its so easy to follow along and create at the same time as her. The finished size is 4 x 4 x 1, I have begun (but not quite finished) another Christmas door hanger and it will fit perfectly in this gift box.

This is a view of the open pizza style box with the belly band removed. I used SU! riding hood red cardstock, because it is so fabulously sturdy. I love it for boxes. The belly band is decorated with CTMH patterned paper and stamp.

Altered clear ball ornaments

Last night while killing a little time at Michael's I came across clear plastic ball ornaments on sale. So silly me I only bought 3, thinking I would try a few things and if I loved it I would go back and get more. Well, I love it! So now I need to get some more. This first ornament has silver snowflake rub ons on the outside with crystal bling at the center of the bigger snowflakes. Inside I used spray adhesive, lightly, and then I added home made flower soft. Somewhere on this wonderful internet I had seen a tutorial about rubbing 2 styrofoam balls together, to make your own homemade flower soft type product. It works, and its cool to use. I used it straight white here but I have colored small amounts with a drop of re-inker ink to coordinate with other projects.

Its hard to photograph this to do it justice. I get glare and reflection. It is very pretty in person. The blue glittered ribbon is from a fabulous Reasonable Ribbons monthly club kit a few months back.

This little ornament is even more simple, but so glamorous. I got this inspiration from my friend Dana, she fed wired ribbon inside the mouth of the ornament, it swirls around and fills in and is really striking!

I got this wired tinsel type ribbon also at Michael's (yahoo, currently 60% off). I added another bow of pretty white satin ribbon from my club kits and Voila! Pretty shimmery, shiny, glimmery ornaments. Love it! I can't wait to make more.

Petal top boxes & carton

I designed this gift box set from an idea I got from an email from mytimemadeeasy.com. Now she has beautiful ideas, and inspirations but her designs do not cut out with my Cricut Design Studio, she designs them for many other programs but none are compatible with mine. Drat! So I spent about 3 hours last night designing my own .cut files using Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge. I did my test cuts last night, a little fine tuning and was able to cut these today. I love how they turned out.

I used Teresa Collins Noel paper line. I love the kind of old world vintage look of them. In the above photo you can see the kind of carton-ish thing with the handles on the side that keep the 3 separate boxes contained. The assembled boxes are 2 x 2 x 3 inches, so the carton and finished package size is 2 x 6 x 3 inches.

Here you see the view of the top. This is why they are called petal top boxes. Isn't this a sweet gift packaging idea?

Altered clothes pins

Oh, hallelujah! I do all my photo taking and posting from my cell phone, and the darn thing has been refusing to talk to my blog all weekend. I don't know how or why but it finally decided to successfully send some photos. Whew!
I saw these adorable gift sets of altered clothes pins at justforyoubyjessica.blogspot.com, she started posting them 07-13-10, 08-28-10 and 09-02-10. (I am glad to see I am not the only one who made multiples of these.) They go together quick, they are useful, they use up scraps and they are too cute.

I packaged them up in recycled sticker and stamp packages. This set is made from DCWV spring mat stack, the scraps left from a toilet paper roll mini album I made earlier this year.

These are just scraps I thought looked cute together.

The red paper is by Jillybean soup, the other two sets are made from CTMH paper sets.

Each and every pin has two squared of magnet on the back side of them. They will hang on the fridge, they are strong enough to hold a list or a note or a photo. I am really happy with how these turned out. Love it!

Glitter ornament with gift box

We have an ornament exchange at work tomorrow, so I doctored up one of my glitter ornaments. A little ribbon, stickles and gems and its own gift box and I believe it is ready to go. Nontraditional Christmas colors I know, but I thought it was kind of fun and funky. It will stand out in the bunch.

Here is a close up. I did these ornaments after last Christmas season, I followed a Pledge floor shine and super fine glitter tutorial I had found on YouTube. I don't have an exact link any more but I'm sure you can query it in YouTube or Google and find plenty of tutorials. 

This is it all boxed up and ready to give away. I held the lid on with 2 Velcro dots on 2 sides.
